Shereece Williams

Biographical Statement

Shereece Williams can be described as a pioneer for many successfully projects completed in her life. As a teenager in Jamaica she was a member of the first all female Jamaican Reggae band 'PEP'. As early as aged 16 her creative abilities in music and fashion were recognized and accepted by her family. This led to her being given responsibilities to design store windows for the fashionable family owned boutique chain, Climax, in the Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, May Pen and Kingston stores during the 1980’s. Subsequently she managed the leather manufacturing and Cosmetic Sales departments, which serviced both national and international markets. In 1987 she migrated to New York along with her younger brother to manage the family's New York stores in Flatbush, Brooklyn.

In New York Shereece kept up with her music by playing part time in ‘Reggaelutions’, a band that got a record deal with CBGB’s (a local New York Village Club that produced many artiste's who went on to International stardom). In 1992 the family closed its Flatbush stores due in part to the economic slump wide spread across the United States. Shereece turned once more to her childhood love, Music, and started her own Reggae band “Just Leisa ‘n’ BU2”. She later played on many great stages including 'The Apollo Theater‘ in Harlem, New York and 'Sweet Waters.' During her musical stint she met and worked with various music icons, including Jackie Mitto.

Shereece was one of the first persons in Brooklyn NY to have a home MIDI studio (where computers, keyboards and drum machines were all hooked up together to make music). She was asked by bassist Victor Bailey of the famous jazz band 'Weather Report’, to create a similar set up for his use.

As a young person growing up Shereece had always been fascinated with computers and owned many during her preteen years. Her chance to enter the Computer Industry happened in 1992 when she encountered a problem with her own computer that could not be repaired by a trained technician, and with the resources available to her from her local library in Brooklyn, New York Shereece researched the problem and repaired the computer herself. This satisfying experience led her to enroll in a formal computer repair course and she and a partner launched “Business and Computer Solutions,” in Brooklyn, New York in1992. “Business and Computer Solutions,” assembled custom configured Computers as well as did repairs and upgrades for many prestigious clients and small businesses. During her 6 years with “Business and Computer Solutions,” Shereece built her company's web site using raw HTML (also called hand coding) and conducted both hands on classes and tutored individuals on computer assembly and how to use computer software.

In 1998 the partnership, “Business and Computer Solutions,” was dissolved and she started a new independent company “S. A. Williams.net”, her slogan ‘Complete Cyber and Computer Consultant’ said it all. This company offered as its main focus, web design and computer repair and upgrade services. The company had a completely interactive e-commerce enabled web site built by Shereece to showcase her work.“S. A. Williams.net”, was very successful in selling turn key e-commerce enabled web sites on-line to clients internationally in Japan and England as well as other States in America.

In 1999 Shereece also became involved with several other web sites, one being 'RentMoviesOnTheNet.com,' It is a pioneering industry where individuals anywhere in the world can reserve movies on-line (using e-commerce) and either download the movie, view the movie on-line or have it delivered to them within an hour or so. This was tested for 1 year in the United States. Shereece’s revolutionary concept was later implemented a full 6 months after Shereece’s web site was up by the American giant ‘Blockbuster’. 'RentMoviesOnTheNet.com,' is currently looking for partners to take this dynamic venture to the next level.

During 1997 - 2001 Shereece attended over 100 Seminars and Conventions on many topics, many included Business, Computers and the Internet. While Shereece vacationed in Jamaica she was encouraged to start a computer repair business resulting from the inundation of requests for repair services from family and friends. It became apparent to her that this was a market niche that had tremendous potential nationally and would become increasingly necessary as the rise in computer owners continued to expand in Jamaica. She decided to pull up roots from New York and make Jamaica her permanent residence. She feels that with her expertise and experience in the field she will be able to make her services available to more Jamaicans at the most cost efficient terms.

S. A. Williams.net‘ changed its name in June 2002 to 'Computer Repair Center' to better reflect and make its operations distinct and clear to Jamaicans and will use ‘NowOnTheNet.com’ (soon to be an International Web Mall with a unique twist) to reflect the web design and services side of her business. Just to reiterate that whatever Shereece does she does with a twist, 'Computer Repair Center' is Jamaica’s first Island wide network of Computer Technicians with at least two technicians in every Parish offering over 10 computer support services.

Shereece revived 'S. A. Williams.net‘ name in 2005 to be the umbrella company for upcoming web sites ‘MyJamaicaGuide.com’, ‘RealEstateInJamaica.com’, ‘JobsInJamaica.com’ and the searchable directory of web sites in Jamaica ’WebSitesInJamaica.com’ which is to be Jamaica’s version of Yahoo.com and is working really hard at promoting these web sites.

Shereece is currently affiliated with the Reverence For Life Foundation through family friend and Founder, Desmond Green. One such project includes teaching ‘skyBuilders.com’ webware to her team of Island wide Technicians who will in turn be teaching it to Schools across the Island.

‘skyBuilders.com’ produces a web-based small-enterprise information system for multi-user community computers. Their webware makes all of an organization's data securely accessible over the Internet. skyBuilders webware runs on a virtual platform called TheSky, supported by Linux, Windows and Mac Operating Systems, which enables it to run on most hardware. Their current products include multilingual time lined on-line publishing, e-learning, events scheduling, resource reservations, group communications, contact management, presentations, web-based forms, web file sharing, project management, and web-site archiving in real time. This cutting edge technology will further facilitate Shereece’s work both personally and in her partnership with the Reverence For Life Foundation.

Shereece was invited to England in 2003 to learn the latest strategies of recycling computers. Shereece was also a founding member of ‘ICT4Djamaica.org’ a web-based entity that seeks ways to enlighten Jamaicans of poorer means about available Technology and it’s many productive uses.
